A Trip Through the Disney Archives submitted by Meginator on July 19, 2020, 1:21pm This book presents a whirlwind tour of the history of Disney, illustrated by stunning images from the company’s various archival collections. Each two-page spread addresses one or two topics, usually a specific film or theme park attraction, with brief text providing some historical context (because the volume was produced by Disney, the text elides any hints of controversy). The images are, by turns, informative and stunning, offering additional insight into Disney’s classic films and innovative theme park design and showcasing works of visual art in a way that highlights their own brilliance beyond their practical applications. I wish the captions included more information about the source material, but that doesn’t diminish the images’ impact. This book is unquestionably biased and rosy about Disney’s impact on cinematic history, but it is nonetheless a worthy celebration of the company’s most outstanding productions and accomplishments throughout the years.
