Actual Substance here, not just satire submitted by calinescus on June 17, 2016, 11:42am The author's obvious satire on Marie Kondo's "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up" is more like the icing, than the actual cake. This book provides practical and efficiently worded advice, and is less of a humor book, and more of a true self-help book. It's substance is actually closer to Kondo's bestseller than you might think.

The advice given here has quite important implications, and I personally have found myself putting it into practice with positive results. The title might seem brash, but I believe that the advice found within is classy and timeless (if you can get past the ridiculous, constant, and flexible use of the "f"-word). And what is better, because of its small size it doesn't fall into the classic trap of self-help books by repeating itself til you get sick. I felt like the writing was mostly crisp and succinct, and it repeats itself just enough (which is still a lot, because thats what self help books do)

I see this book as an homage to Kondo's bestseller, and not just a joke making fun of it. The advice is simple, focusing on prioritizing, list-making, and soul-searching (asking yourself the question, "what really matters to you"). Worth it!

Worthy Advice! submitted by Beth Manuel on July 8, 2016, 1:27pm I agree with the previous reviewer that this book did indeed have substance & great tips as to how to prioritize one's life, how to say no without coming off as evil and how to be sure your time is spend on the F's you are willing to give. Yes, the F word is used so frequently that one may be desensitized from its vulgarity. I know I was. I've recommended this books to many people-even strangers outside of AADL-and everytime I do I feel that it was a valuable book to read and perhaps even buy. I also read Marie Kondo's book, so I understood the humor but it stands on its own as a very helpful book.

Terrible submitted by KidBlue on October 24, 2017, 9:25am Very short-sighted and not very well thought out advice.

Reminder: Choose Your Battles Wisely submitted by sVfGI7Glt2pz7GZgVB90 on August 4, 2020, 11:36pm
Don't dismissed this as lighthearted... but it's essentially a spoof of the million-selling Marie Condo (tidying up) but has valuable nuggets of wisdom in it.

It looks at who the people are who don't give care, why they don't, and how we can be more like them.

The essential message that it's giving you is that we have a limited amount of in our life to give to things and we need to decide what we're going to be worked up about. Not everything in life is worth wasting an evening nagging a friend or a partner about.

It is actually incredibly helpful and amusing about making a clear definition between the two it's rather lovely.

Right depending on the reader submitted by emaelshaikh on August 25, 2022, 1:16pm Could definitely be disastrous
