COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Gross submitted by bookher on July 13, 2016, 1:30pm I watched about 15 min.s of this movie but it was just creepy gross. Actually, kind of disturbing.
The Book Was Creepier! submitted by Beth Manuel on July 18, 2016, 2:31pm I was concerned about how this film would come off after reading the graphic (and I do mean graphic) novel. Indeed, it is a disturbing premise, steeped in reality and creepy as all get-out. It was hard not to feel sorry for the protagonist, and it made me feel like an exemplary parent. So, there's that.
Honest submitted by ferielp on June 19, 2017, 10:48am This is a beautiful, honest, non-judgmental exploration of a girl's journey in realizing and voicing her desires. Having a woman write and direct it means that the story gets told from a place of understanding and truth, and there's no disturbing male gaze/fascination with the young girl, as there so often is when men think they can tell our stories. I watched it twice while I had it, and the additional Q&A at the end really made me appreciate the depth of compassion the actors had for their characters.
