Chi-Raq is a modern day adaptation of the ancient Greek play 'Lysistrata' by Aristophanes. After the murder of a child by a stray bullet, a group of women led by Lysistrata organize against the on-going violence in Chicago₂s Southside creating a movement that challenges the nature of race, sex and violence in America and around the world.

Umm ... submitted by Duette on July 29, 2016, 5:28pm I get there was some ... Poetic intent and a desire to present a good message. But it gets lost amongst all of the ... Sex, profanity, rap, violence and even the rhyming messes it up. A+ cast though

Great submitted by SaraP on July 29, 2019, 12:17pm A fascinating update of Lysistrata. Spike Lee was even able to keep the rhyme and meter of the original as he set his version in contemporary Chicago rather than ancient Greece.
