COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Engaging & Humorous submitted by Beth Manuel on June 17, 2016, 11:20am I was surprised to find this as a documentary as I was expecting a Rom-Com. So, it was a bit of both. The film was an interesting look into marriage customs that we Americans likely find very strange & old fashioned. Particularly in relation to the surname Patel, who, according to the film, are obligated to marry other Patels. There is a process by which Patels meet other Patels, for example, in the form of convention-style gatherings. Parents and prospective marrying-aged Patels receive biographical information about other Patels in an effort to get a compatible Patel match. Quite interesting, I thought.
Quirky & funny submitted by LVDS on August 4, 2016, 7:35am Great look at cross generational and Indian vs American 'dating' and marriage expectations. Arranged marriages with commitment first, THEN fall in love....sometimes sounds better than American 'trying' someone out for years, then not 'like' something. As is wisely shared....couples will never fully understand each other. That's OK, God made us different. Interesting and recommendable.
Poignant, honest with home video quality submitted by ekjensen on August 24, 2016, 1:47pm Agree will previous review comments. Everyone should view these personal films from different cultures that give an insider look, in this case, the ritual of matrimony and variety of processes used to find a mate in the Indian culture within mainstream USA.
