COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A Few High Points, Merely Average Overall submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 9:53am This season of the long-running sitcom tries to take its characters in more mature directions, with mixed success, and drops a massive piece of information in its final moments that signal that the writers are moving (however slowly) toward the moment where Ted finally meets the Mother. Unfortunately, these moments are often relegated to side plots while Ted’s most questionable long-term relationship takes center stage. Thankfully, the season has enough good mixed in with the bad to keep the show worthwhile so late into its run, including significant character development for Barney and Marshall, a great Thanksgiving episode, and the continuation of the Robin Sparkles saga. The season’s biggest plotline feels like a misstep from its first moment, but the supporting cast ultimately saves the day, proving yet again that the strength of this show lies not so much in its main character but instead on the relationships he has with his best friends.
