Fun Superhero Movie submitted by Meginator on June 24, 2017, 3:21pm "Ant-Man" is unique in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it plays more as a comedy than a drama. Sure, all of the films have a certain comic sensibility, but I loved the wholly different tone of this movie (which, incidentally, plays to Paul Rudd's strengths). This movie has a lot of heart and might be my favorite of the MCU films thus far. The effects are surprisingly good (I get annoyed by a lot of CGI), the story works well, and the tone of the film fits its characters and subject matter. Marvel really nailed it with this movie and have high hopes for the sequel.

Fun! submitted by terpsichore17 on July 30, 2018, 12:29pm Merrily sets about breaking the laws of physics. Might be good exposure therapy for someone with a fear of ants/bugs; I came away feeling more positive about ants afterward.

One thing I found satisfying is how the scientist who hid his research got the chance to articulate why it was dangerous for his work to be more widely available; also satisfying that the woman who was more qualified than the main character was *acknowledged* to be more qualified (but, to her father, less expendable).

But it balanced that silliness out with great action and a compelling story of a flawed protagonist. The chemistry of the cast is really enjoyable. I love Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd together and look forward to seeing them in more films. A great popcorn flick that you won't regret watching.

When I put it in and saw the montage on the main menu screen, I was already hooked. The story is great, and it’s fun to see some Avengers here and there.
