COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Amy submitted by Beth Manuel on July 12, 2016, 5:44pm Heartbreaking documentary of Amy Winehouse, with her jazzy, soulful voice. The film opens with home movie footage of Amy singing Happy Birthday to a friend or family member when she was about 14 years old, with a knock out voice. Amy's spiral into self-destruction was difficult to watch but the paparazzi who stalked her made her life a living hell. In the end, it seemed that Amy simply wanted to disappear. There are some cool scenes of her performing in several European venues with an added touch of transliterating the lyrics as she sang. So you could read what she's singing, because at times her British accent was hard to understand, especially in the context of crooning, or when she was totes wasted.

Sad story of fame submitted by mandevil on April 28, 2021, 12:25pm So sad that so many musicians end up this way. That the fame and attention becomes inescapable and lives are ruined. That fans by their unrelenting love destroy the object of their affection.
