Boss is a plantation owner that has left his 1905 Winton Flyer unattended. Boon is a hired hand who decides the car is the ideal vehicle to take him and his buddy on a glorious jaunt to distant Memphis. Along for the ride is Boss's twelve-year-old grandson, who finds himself a reluctant third "reiver" (an old Scottish word for 'thief') aboard his grandfather's car.
