Best Bond series parody I've seen submitted by KeithMc on October 27, 2015, 6:35pm Child warning: Appropriately rated R... To properly parody the Bond genre,
there are a lot of adult jokes, language, and even bloodshed in this comedic
send-up.

Spy does an excellent job of parodying the Bond Film genre film formula. From your formula initial "prior job", the beautifully done "art-surreal" orchestral opening number in Bond style, to typical photography, world settings, dealing with exotic travel,
nice vehicles, and land/air/water situations, this is by far the best parody of
this genre I've ever seen.

The film chronicles the American CIA equivalent of the British Secret Service.
The characters are hilarious... You have Jude Law as your typical "Bond"
prototype character (who gets into trouble). But you also have Stratham
as the cowboy / "toughest spy you'll ever meet", McDonald as the "Q"
equivalent in his typical high tech lab, and Janney as the "M" equivalent
CIA boss. You also have your "femme fatales", arms dealers, "womanizing"
character, henchmen, dangerous opponents (and the others typical
of the genre) present. There's even some inter-character practical joking
and rivalries.

Poor McCarthy's character is a top "voice in the ear" CIA support/analyst,
who suddenly finds she has to go into the field for the very first time
when Jude Law's character's task (the Bond equivalent) goes sideways.

Watching her deal with the various Bond trope characters in her own
way is a true joy. If you've ever enjoyed a Bond film, be sure to catch
this one. A big thumbs up.

The cast in this movie as a whole works really well together. It has quirky fun characters that deliver laughs throughout the whole film. It has kind of an action feel to it without being an actual action packed movie, the comedy breaks up any seriousness. This movie has a really easy to follow storyline. It's a great movie if you're just looking to laugh a little.
