COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Back to Basics (and the Basics Are Good) submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 5:13pm Chris Stapleton has a back-to-basics approach that relies on well-crafted, stripped-down songs and emotional (but never overwrought) vocal delivery, and it works really well here. Each track tells a story on multiple levels, with the lyrics supported by a country-folk-rock instrumental base infused with the spirit of outlaw country and blues rock. Much of the album relies on subtlety and simplicity, and everything comes together with apparent effortlessness to create a compelling musical experience.
