COMMUNITY REVIEWS

superb submitted by grubbg on June 19, 2015, 10:58am A stunning debut--the kind of film you wait years for. An acute visual narrative with image after image of bold emotional power. You thought, before this film, that you didn't need to see an Iranian woman, riding a skateboard down an empty freeway ramp, her hijab billowing behind her. This film teaches you that, in fact, you did.

Great Cinematography submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2021, 5:34pm This film, shot in black and white, has incredible atmospherics and cinematography while making the most of its limited color palette and deep shadows. The visual style suits the plot, which is a bit loose and not particularly easy to follow, due in large part to the sparse dialogue. I enjoyed the film and it made me think, but I ultimately appreciated it more as a visual work of art than as a story; I’d be really interested to discuss it, though, to see whether I’m just missing some of the subtlety here.
