Troubling depiction of slavery submitted by willow on January 18, 2016, 5:43am Among the other cooks of this dish is an enslaved black woman and her daughter, cooking, serving the master, and then eating in the closet. There is something unsettling about this, for which the author (post-publication) expressed remorse, donating her earnings from the book towards diverse publishing.
