What a Cast! submitted by teri on July 10, 2019, 10:59pm Classic Billy Wilder film noir. It moves slow, the tension and moodiness mounts, even turning a little macabre (a funeral for a pet chimpanzee?). Costumes by Edith Head. Great acting and good entertainment by some of the past's best actors/actresses.

"funny how gentle people get with you once you're dead"

Great commentary on the movie industry, studio system and stardom. Lots to appreciate both visually and thematically and the ending is outstanding (though often misquoted). Then the Paramount Studios logo pops up at the end and it was a perfect button on the film.

Lots of references to color in this black and white film. Also significant cars.
