book 2 submitted by rjsjwilliams on June 28, 2015, 11:25am This is Anne Hillerman's 2nd book and just as good as her dad's books and her first one. Leaphorn is still not speaking, so is communicating via taps and the computer and is still the go to guy for Chee and Benny to bounce things off. Chee and Benny start on a vacation, but through hook and crook, are both called upon to work. First there is a missing lady from the actors' camp, who is found by Chee, and then thehre is a drug bust (maybe) or something else brewing in the wind and the plants!!!! Enjoy

Royla submitted by refurniss on July 25, 2017, 10:05am This was a really good story, several stories going at once, beautiful descriptions of the Southwest region, and a mystery not easy to solve!!!

likable main characters submitted by camelsamba on July 31, 2017, 12:51pm I can find things to be critical of, but in the end my rating boils down to this: I really liked the book, despite those problems. This probably reflects a touch of nostalgia for the southwest. (I grew up in southern New Mexico but spent very little time in northern NM.) One aspect that had me seriously rolling my eyes: the rantings of the head solar dude. Did he have a nervous breakdown at the thought of his big deal falling apart? He was completely unbelievable. But Bernie and Chee and the whole extended character set are worth spending time with.
