"At 3:15 p.m. on April 29, 1992, a jury acquitted two Los Angeles Police Department officers charged with using excessive force to subdue civilian Rodney King, and failed to reach a verdict on the same charges involving a third officer. Less than two hours later, the city of LA, a powder keg of racial tension, exploded in violence as people took to the streets in a terrifying orgy of rioting that lasted six days. In 144 hours, sixty lives were lost. And then there were the murders outside of active rioting sites, committed by gangbangers who used the lawlessness of a city on fire to viciously settle scores. A gritty and cinematic work of sourced fiction, All Involved vividly recreates this turbulent and terrifying time through the stories of six interconnected lives caught up in extraordinary circumstances"-- provided by publisher.

Marvelous but made me anxious submitted by Jannana37 on July 11, 2015, 10:12am I was drawn into this book completely. Each chapter is written from the perspective of a different character, including a taco stand worker, multiple gang members, a fire fighter, a nurse, a graffiti artist, and other people who are in the orbit of these people. Some are just trying to get by, some are using the situation (riots after Rodney King police officer acquittals) as a shield to settle scores or commit crimes of their own with little fear of being caught, and some are hoping to make something better of their lives. I had no clue when I started reading this book how compelling and horrifying it would be but I could not put it down. I worried each night as I went to bed, would I have nightmares about the fate of this character or that one? (And, yes, sometimes I did.) I definitely want to read it again after I've had time to clear my head with some simple murder mysteries. I highly recommend it to anyone who is not faint of heart.
super good submitted by manz on August 10, 2016, 10:40am I was mesmerized while reading this book and couldn't put it down. The interweaving stories from the variety of characters works so well! Really gripping.
