In Nocturne: Creatures of the Night, animal photographer Traer Scott takes the viewer on a journey through nighttime in the animal kingdom, revealing some of nature's most elusive creatures. Bats, big cats, flying squirrels, tarantula, owls, kangaroo mice, giant moths, sloth, several species of snakes, and a Madagascar hissing cockroach are only a few of the animals illuminated in these portraits. Seventy-five full-color photographs of forty different species are accompanied by descriptions of each animal's habits and habitats, and an introduction provides personal insight into Scott's photographic method.

Nighttime Nature Photography submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 10:21pm This book consists photographs of nocturnal animals shot against a striking black background that makes the animals come to life in what feels like a natural environment for them. Each photograph is accompanied by a brief paragraph about the featured animal, and instead of sticking to a template, the author provides different types of information, preventing the book from becoming repetitive and giving it a bit of a personal feeling. Featuring animals both obscure and familiar, and from all over the world, this book is absolutely fascinating for readers of about late elementary school age and older.
