For close to ten years, writer Greg O'Brien, diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer's, has chronicled its progression as an embedded reporter inside the mind of this monster of a disease. Taking detailed notes and working off cognitive reserve, O'Brien offers an illuminating blueprint of strategies, faith, and humor needed to fight this disease, a day-to-day focus on living with Alzheimer's, not dying with it.

Good self-published book about living with Alzheimer's. The author has the early-onset form, and at the point of writing seems to be about 5 or 6 years post-diagnosis. He continues to live an active life as a journalist, though apparently at a slower rate than when he was healthy.
The book is interesting. It's a bit disjointed, with some repetitions and some lines that don't quite make sense, but then that's Alzheimer's. Indeed, I found myself wondering if the book was poorly edited or if the difficult-to-follow aspects were left in intentionally to help give a sense of the disordered or confused mind.
Either way, as a person who works with patients with dementia, I found this book touching and helpful for my work. As a person whose father had Alzheimer's and therefore a person who worries about it for herself, it was educational on some practical matters and encouraging.
I recommend it.
