Misplaced Focus submitted by Meginator on July 19, 2019, 5:40pm Given the astounding natural beauty of the landscapes featured in this documentary, I cannot fathom why the creators devoted a seemingly interminable amount of time to four-wheeling exploits. A perfectly fine, if dry, introduction to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks gives way to an extended advertisement for local jeeping groups well into the documentary (Natural Bridges gets short shrift as a result); while it's cool to see how people interact with the land, surely Utah's southeastern corner has more interesting sights to commit to film than a dude failing to get up a single rock formation ten or more (not an exaggeration). Otherwise, the documentary is fine but not exceptionally informative; I would have hoped for more historical information or more sweeping vistas in lieu of shots featuring random tourists and parking lots. These parks' natural beauty is evident despite the filmmakers' best efforts, but this documentary fails to adequately celebrate them.
