COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great show submitted by TLW1998 on August 7, 2019, 9:02pm I’m usually not one for mob shows, but this series is good. The dialogue is well written, and the characters are interesting. The acting is good. It’s an entertaining program.

Time submitted by jibkidder on July 16, 2022, 7:41am Watching Sopranos when it came out was a joy, and few pieces of media can transport me in time so directly, and it is strange to think of the aughts as a long time ago. "Light Sleeper", the Schrader film, is another work that quickly cues up the atmosphere of the 1990s, in a similar way, or it is somehow a similar atmosphere. Take for example, the theme song, Alabama 3's 'Woke Up This Morning", which is a horrible song, it almost calls to mind 1990s JJ Cale but it's way less tasteful, and yet, almost immediately, it gives me a complicated feeling. Is it just because it has trained me to know the episode is coming up? Is it the puff of smoke of a universe quickly creating itself before you? I feel like it gets better as more time passes, as both it's datedness increase and it's widespread influence is more apparent and then meanwhile the show gets better later in the series, possibly just due to the increase your in own investment, but maybe because they were learning their craft. For the last season of the show, I was working as a bicycle food deliveryman in Long Island City and I delivered food to their writers office and when the show reached it's end the costume ladies gave me all sorts of free clothing during one delivery and then Gossip Girl moved into their room which was a startling and sad change to the ambiance of that room.
