A good Halloween read submitted by emilyb308 on August 18, 2020, 2:08pm This is a pretty solid collection of stories—very fun to read around Halloween. My personal favorite was The Southwest Chamber by Mary Wilkins Freeman (what an atmosphere!), but the stories by Gaskell, Edwards, Dickens, Conan Doyle, and Chambers were good as well. I’d suggest skipping the Margaret Oliphant, though. She wrote as if she was paid by the word, and still didn’t manage to say much with them.
