Title from web page.
Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal, Charlotte Le Bon, Amit Shah.
Hassan is a culinary ingenue with the gastronomic equivalent of perfect pitch. Displaced from their native India, his family settles in a quaint village in the south of France. They plan to open an Indian restaurant, that is, until Madame Mallory, the owner of a classical French restaurant, gets wind of it. Her icy protests against the new Indian restaurant so near her own escalate to all out war; until Hassan's cooking talent and love for Mme. Mallory's assistant, Marguerite cannot be ignored.
DVD, widescreen.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

LOVED this! submitted by mmckenzie on July 9, 2015, 3:13pm All the online reviews are correct - this is well done! One would hope so, as Helen Mirren is in the film. It's be such a waste of her talent, if it were not.
Btw, not so much of a romantic comedy film. A tiny bit. The family elements are well developed and round out the film.

Very good submitted by Lucy S on August 18, 2015, 1:59pm I really enjoyed this. Entertaining and well filmed.

Very enjoyable! submitted by bookher on August 27, 2015, 9:22am What a nice enjoyable film from beginning to end. A pleasure to watch!!

The Hundred-Foot Journey submitted by Varshini on July 26, 2019, 11:11am I actually really enjoyed this movie. Good family film.

Really great submitted by mandevil on September 7, 2020, 1:50pm I love any movie set in the south of France. This one is a knockout

Good book and movie submitted by rea2mill on June 20, 2022, 6:58pm This was a wonderful movie. I enjoyed it so much I turned around and read the book almost immediately after. The two are now a little mixed up in my memory, so I won’t offer a more insightful view, but I will say I didn’t find myself disappointed in the movie while reading the book. Both were excellent.

Beautiful setting and a satisfying story submitted by kkjammers on June 21, 2022, 7:53pm The movie is artistically delightful and thoroughly engaging. I was left with a feeling of hope which is much appreciated these days. Characters show growth and their inherent goodness triumphs. Mirren is formidable as head of her kitchen staff, when she fires one of her chefs with "Take your knives and go!"
