An eager little Christmas tree, not very tall or well-shaped, is the last on the lot but when it seems all hope of being covered with lights and ornaments is lost, a special person comes to take him home.

Uplifting submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 10:53am This picture book tells a familiar story about a neglected Christmas tree that eventually finds a loving home, with an unexpected twist at the end. This genre of story is always a little bittersweet, but the author and illustrator do an excellent job of depicting the tree’s relentless optimism and pride, two traits that keep the book relatively light even when the poor tree’s situation seems bleak. The illustrations have a lot of movement and color, with balance between busy crowd scenes and contemplative abstract spreads, and help carry the mood of the story. These types of tales usually make me sad, but I really enjoyed this particular iteration.
