Selena is the famous red-haired muse of the artist Tiziano, first painted by him in 1512 and still inspiring him at the time of his death. Selena is at the center of Renaissance life in Venice, a world of beauty and danger, seduction and betrayal, love and superstition. Locked away in a tower, Margherita sings in the hope that someone will hear her. One day, a young man does.

Wonderful Story, Masterfully Crafted! submitted by cadoh on September 9, 2015, 3:59pm I have just finished listening to all **16** CDs of this amazing story!

How intricately and masterfully interwoven are the stories of three strong women: Charlotte-Rose, Selena (La Strega), and Margherita - each of whom lost her mother at a tender age, who was imprisoned in one way or another at some point in her life, and who through "good grace" found a way to freedom.

I will now be looking to read more about the life of Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de la Force - and her original version of "Persinette."
