Lovely Christmas Story submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:26pm I absolutely loved this simple story of a boy and his monster companion preparing for Christmas. The rhythmic next never drops a beat as it consistently keeps the story moving forward, often using unexpected rhyme words to excellent humorous effect as the characters participate in several traditional holiday and winter activities. The character designs are brilliant and lively and the characters themselves have an uncommonly vivid expressiveness that makes the illustrations (and the story) come to life with a full range of emotions; the visual scenes add life to the already lovely text with their wonderful detail, providing extra twists of both humor and heart in their own way. Sometimes everything just comes seamlessly together to make a book great, and something about this book immediately clicked with me; I highly recommend it for its offbeat, unique take on familiar holiday themes.
