2015 printz award submitted by tshish on August 17, 2015, 4:49pm Educational value: note: slow start my teen almost gave up on it.
Readers will learn about art, awakening teen sexuality, anti-gay bullying, and how a tragedy and silence can cause a family to malfunction.

Love this book submitted by pbolz10 on June 18, 2016, 9:30pm This book was amazing. The author's creative language and imagery was awesome, and the things she wrote were so easy to picture and yet so interesting and complex. Just a beautiful story.

Please read submitted by charbutcool on June 18, 2018, 12:30am I myself am not very good at writing these, so here's the gist of what I want to say: read it.
It's such an amazing and good book worth your time.

Amazing! submitted by dingyan1977 on August 19, 2018, 10:13pm This book was amazing! 10/10 would recommend.

Enlightening (haha) submitted by mynameisjulia on June 22, 2019, 10:29pm It was a little confusing in the beginning, but as the story unfolded, you just gotta love the author's pacing of events. It's a rather masterful story, with powerful morals. It left me rather inspired to go paint something.

Amazing Book submitted by Paper-Dragon on August 11, 2020, 4:18pm Honestly one of the best books I've ever read. The writing style, the character development, and the plot all make it an unforgettable, interesting, and overall great book. Would recommend.

Page turning Must Read submitted by Jessica Primus on December 15, 2020, 8:07pm Summary: Jandy Nelson focuses this book on twins, a closeted gay, artsy, Noah and daredevil, superstitious Jude. Each chapter you will uncover more about their history and the present, as Jude explains their lives as 16 year olds and Noah tells us about what happened when they were 13 1/2. I'll Give You The Sun has almost tangible writing, that adds another layer to this wonderful (but definitely not light) story. Though there was a bit of a slow start, I cannot emphasize enough the impact this book makes, about family bonds, how to navigate romantic interests, and discovering one's true self. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do yourself a favor and read this eye opening novel.

Fantastic Book submitted by ReadBooks on July 7, 2021, 9:17am This book is about two twins, Noah and Jude, who at 13 are very different, but also close. The author jumps around in time, with Jude telling about how they aren't even speaking at 16, and telling about their lives then, and Noah telling about what is happening at 13, 13 1/2, and 14. The plot is very clever, and everything is woven into all the other events, making it an exciting, but sad, story. You see how Noah and Jude try to cope with tragedy, be themselves and figure out who that is, and navigate relationships with each other and their family, and romantic relationships. You grow to care about the characters. This is a must-read!

OMG! This book! submitted by Xris on July 8, 2021, 12:49am I just finished reading it and I feel like I need to read it again, now that I know what I know from the end of the book. But the book was written so beautifully, describing the art going on IRL and in people's heads. And then the relationships of all the people in the book that have a way of coming full circle, after getting so dark, but real about loss. Love it! <3

Heartwrenching submitted by CarolSeidl on July 15, 2021, 9:03pm I read this a few years ago and it is still one of my all-time favorites! It has some mature content, but it is a beautiful story and I absolutely recommend it.

SO GOOD! submitted by margaretmcnair on July 29, 2023, 6:53pm It's a little slow at first, but SUCH a good story! The dual narrators at different points in time make it so interesting too.
