Tremendous Two-Tone submitted by Meginator on July 16, 2020, 8:04am This compilation is an absolute must-have for fans of ska, in any of its various incarnations. The English Beat helped define the two-tone style by blending elements of traditional Jamaican music and the burgeoning punk movement, creating an addictive syncopated sound that is at once buoyant and relaxing. You can sense the different musical inspirations coming together, and this feels like music that was on the cutting edge of its time even if it is familiar today. The Beat still sound great, their music at once progressive and timeless, and this box set is essential listening.
