COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Must-Binge Television submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2021, 6:52pm By this point, the show has largely abandoned its initial bad guy of the week format, but Justified continues to introduce compelling new characters who make the show’s imagined version of Harlan County, Kentucky, feel completely real. One of the show’s most compelling aspects is its exploration of both law enforcement and criminals; though the show clearly has a strong moral sense of right and wrong, even its most evil wrongdoers (and this season has a big one) are well-rounded and human, to the point where you actually come to root for some of them despite the fact that they are (usually) antagonists for the show’s hero (not *that* guy though). Raylan himself gets a bit of a growth arc that feels a bit abbreviated after a major turning point in his life, but everyone around him is so interesting that it hardly matters. This season gets a bit gory in places and I wish that the other U.S. Marshals had more to do than act solely as convenient backup for the hero, but the show is incredibly adept at building and exploring its characters and it’s difficult to stop watching this season once you get going.
