COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Just watch it submitted by caburr47 on July 21, 2019, 9:52pm Season 2 is even better than the first. Smarter writing, wonderful addition in characters Margot Martindale deserves that Emmy and you can never have enough Raylan and Boyd.

Deep and Meaningful Storytelling submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2021, 6:52pm This season picks up directly where the show left off, with the characters reacting to a new power vacuum among Harlan County’s criminal elements. By this point, the show has essentially forgotten the criminal-of-the-week format of its early episodes (for both better and worse), and it focuses much more consistently and deeply on Raylan’s roots and relationships in Harlan than on his work as a U.S. Marshal. Margot Martindale takes a star turn as Mags Bennett, a Harlan County matriarch whose season-long story arc showcases the show’s deep attention to character building; no one here is simply a hero or a villain, and the show leans into its biggest strengths by giving everyone emotional complexity. This is still essentially a cop show starring a trigger-happy lawman, but I continue to be surprised by how much I like it.
