COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Double Indemnity submitted by a2sue on August 29, 2017, 12:23am I can't believe that Double Indemnity was released 70 years ago -- it really stands the test of time!

A near perfect movie and fantastic noir submitted by Will O on August 26, 2020, 10:12am Easily the best noir ever made. Can you top Raymond Chandler and Billy Wilder writing together? No.
Fred McMurray is great as Walter Neff, an insurance salesman who decides to help a woman murder her husband after taking out an accidental death policy on him.
Barbara Stanwyck is incredible as Phyllis Dieterich, the fatel femme who sets everything in motion (again) to get what she wants.
There are no heroes, just grim murky grey and every minute is a joy to watch.

Noir perfection. submitted by lmangus on July 26, 2021, 11:52am McMurray, type-cast in so many of his other roles, is in rare form. He's unsettling, impatient, desperate.
Stanwyck too, delivers a calculated performance that is measured and squirm-worthy. She's brilliant! I found myself talking to the film, as if by magic, I could suddenly warn the characters. Cinematography is noir perfection. Of course it is. This film is one of the noir greats!
