"Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster."
"By special arrangement with the Jerry Siegel family."--Title page verso.
"Although no records have been uncovered that specify which stories were written by Siegel, a reading of the text reveal hallmarks of his style in all stories except the "Superman's Service to Servicemen" sequence, which corresponds to his induction into the army on July 4, 1943."--Title page verso.
Includes an introduction by Mark Waid.
The Man of Steel's newspaper adventures ran for more than twenty-five years, from 1939 until 1996, yet only the first few years have ever been reprinted. The vast majority of the strips remain among the rarest of all Superman collectibles. This volume helps remedy that gap in the Superman mythos by beginning a comprehensive archival program to bring back into print every one of the Superman Sunday newspaper strips. This volume contains 170 sequential Sunday pages, beginning May 9, 1943-August 4, 1946. Included are the World War II strips featuring "Superman's Service to Servicemen."
