The New Newsboys submitted by Meginator on July 31, 2018, 6:56pm By this album, Newsboys clearly feel comfortable with their altered lineup, and the result is a surprisingly inventive album that eschews bland, cookie-cutter Christian lite rock in favor of electronic-tinged pop rock, hearkening back to the band's glory day flirtations with less mainstream pop sounds. The lyrics are a bit too relentlessly positive for my taste, even (especially?) for a Christian album, and the music isn't terribly innovative from a secular standpoint, but the tracks feel quite different from mainstream religious radio; these days that's a rare blessing indeed.
