Introduction -- The dishes -- Book summaries.
No recipes, but an assortment of photographic interpretations of culinary moments from contemporary and classic literature. Fried pairs each place setting with the text from that book that inspired its creation. She includes food facts and anecdotes about the authors, their work, and their culinary predilections.

Fun! submitted by eapearce on May 1, 2015, 3:32pm Author Dinah Fried has chosen a unique array of meals from literature and recreated them for this fun book. The description of the meals from the given book is shown on one page and then a photograph of Fried's recreation is shown on the opposite. It's fun to read the actual commentary on the meal and then see how Fried interpreted it. One note: this is more of an art book than a cookbook. There are no recipes included. I preferred it this way, but if you're looking for details about the meals, you won't find them.
