Victorian Police Force submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 19, 2014, 9:14pm Set in late 19th century London, not long after Jack the Ripper has stopped his murder spree--although, of course, no one at the time knew whether the blood bath had truly ended--"Ripper Street" focuses on Detective Reid as he investigates murders in Whitechapel, now infamous because of the serial killer.

Our protagonist brings on staff at the police station a drunken American doctor to work as the medical examiner and together the pair solve crimes.

The show has interesting male main characters, but only shallow female main characters. In fairness, it at least has some female characters, unlike some police shows. There are several anachronisms, such as vocabulary and technology.

This show is violent, crude and so very inappropriate for children.

Why bother? submitted by GJBarnett2 on June 22, 2014, 9:56am A time-waster. Really nothing of interest except to expatriate Brits longing for a taste of home. Don't let your attention wander because the accents and period dialogue make it hard to follow.
