COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Thumbs Up submitted by Beth Manuel on June 13, 2014, 10:01pm I wasn't sure if I would like this film because I didn't know what it was about. As it turned out it was good, the acting was worth watching. I learned something about the recovery of these priceless works of art, too. George Clooney did a fine job directing, writing the screen play and starring in this film.

Read the book! submitted by airgood on July 7, 2014, 4:37pm The movie is pretty good though it strays from the actual events. It felt as though a lot of the fictional drama detracted from the seriousness and enormity of what truly happened. It's an enjoyable movie, but the book is infinitely better!

it was ok submitted by jjdijkstra81 on July 19, 2014, 1:17pm Just okay. Love the actors of course. Basically a treasure hunt for art.

great cast submitted by Jackie77 on August 31, 2015, 10:20am Not too sure about this one. The cast is great. The story didnt seem to follow too closely to the real events. Some dialogue felt off, like not believable. It was good for making the situation that the real people this happened is more widely known.

Important part of history submitted by Xris on July 6, 2018, 6:12pm I'm glad George Clooney took the time to show the work that people did to save art from being destroyed in WWII. I didn't know that this division of the military existed and I'm happy to have learned about it. I especially enjoyed the extras, where they had the actual Monuments Men and their interviews. :)

The Monuments Men dvd submitted by a2sue on July 21, 2019, 6:08pm The dvd of The Monuments Men was interesting in some ways, but a little slow in other parts. I'd give it a so-so recommendation.

True Monument submitted by caburr47 on June 29, 2020, 10:25pm The obvious chemistry between George Clooney and Matt Damon, is really the tip of the iceberg with this film. The fact that this is based on a true story, George Clooney chalks up another success. It addresses what type of legacy do we leave if we do not have a representation of the whole culture we come from.
