Enlightening submitted by sushai on August 22, 2018, 8:56pm It's a good way to learn about how life in Nigeria is similar to and different from live in the US, told through the eyes of a young woman who has lived in both. I especially liked her take on America and Americans, the things that make us ugly, the things that make us great. I think the narrator did a great job of dealing with so many characters, but some of her male characters, the American ones, sound a little annoying and it was hard to picture them. Minor flaw for a great read.
Competent submitted by lstorc on August 28, 2018, 12:40am The character portrayals are in depth and are resounding. Sometimes the transitions felt a little choppy, but overall a fantastic read!
Vividly imagined submitted by ckfinzel on July 17, 2019, 10:27pm I appreciate how deeply the characters if this book are flushed out. It's a very tender sort of love story, both about finding yourself and your identity in new places, and finding love with others. I especially liked this in audiobook format because of the performer's smooth voice and ability to transition into accents that gave the text more life than I think I could have imagined in my head. I enjoyed this book a lot.
