Moral instruction, with fairy tale style submitted by willow on July 25, 2016, 9:00am This fat book is a collection of short stories; most of them are what I would call morally instructive. They contain life lessons about the value of honesty, hard work, and avoiding being a nasty, sniveling sort a child, delivered in a cheerful tone. Many of them involve gnomes and dwarves and other magical elements, but the implication for the parent is obvious: imparting suggestions about how to be a nice person. Sometimes they are a bit heavy-handed, but my child did not seem to mind. An older sibling, however, heard the opening of one of them, and immediately recognized it as such.
