Robert Redford.
An open-water thriller about one man's battle for survival against the elements after his sailboat is destroyed at sea. Using only a sextant and nautical maps to chart his progress, he is forced to rely on ocean currents to carry him into a shipping lane in hopes of hailing a passing vessel. But with the sun unrelenting, sharks circling, and his meager supplies dwindling, the ever-resourceful sailor soon finds himself staring his mortality in the face.
DVD, widescreen presentation; 5.1 Dolby digital.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Suspenseful submitted by Beth Manuel on June 18, 2014, 12:26pm Not a film to watch if dialogue is a priority for enjoyment. There were a lot of unanswered questions, but the footage was amazing and Robert Redford was a force to watch as he suffered through this immense challenge.

Acting is awesome submitted by r-chopra on August 25, 2014, 12:56pm It's a vey motivating movie. Never give up.

starkly beautiful submitted by sumsaylor on July 15, 2015, 8:48pm Redford is great and this film shows how such a simple idea with one actor can work. A tale of triumph of the human spirit that will not yield in the face of adversity and will fight to the very end to survive.

Unrealistic submitted by leenajong on August 16, 2015, 9:57pm Robert Redford seemed like he was enjoying himself. Nicholas cage would have been a better cast(away)!

Simplicity submitted by markwells on July 7, 2016, 3:06pm Sometimes less is more and I love that there is one man against nature in this film. Grade:A.

All Is Lost submitted by SBNB on August 3, 2021, 12:05am It's not bad. Part Castaway, part Life of Pi, with a sprinkle of Titanic thrown in. The problem is that there is no connection to the main character. We don't learn anything about his past or present other than he can sail and repair a boat. We have nothing invested in his character, so in the end, if he lives or dies, it doesn't really matter. He's just some random dude on a boat.
