Hana was a student before she was a mother. Then she met a man, who turned out to be a wolf, and together they built a family. Hana loved her mate fiercely, but fate took him from her, leaving her alone with two unusual kids she didn't know how to raise. This is a mother's journey. Teach your children to chase their dreams - and smile through the tears as they disappear into the world in search of who they will become. Hana wasn't always a mother, but it was always what she was meant to be.
DVD; Region 1, NTSC; Hybrid.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Well-done and touching submitted by elfchild9 on July 20, 2014, 10:48am Wolf Children does a beautiful job of portraying a single mother as she tries to raise her very wild kids. The characters are deeply compelling, and the mother's challenges hit on issues that parents anywhere can relate to. I've recommended this movie to three or four people in the past week alone, and everyone I know who's seen it has loved it.

Even people who don't typically "get" anime can enjoy this - the animation is less stylized than usual, and it doesn't use any of the emotion shorthands (veins popping, teardrops, etc.) that often confuse new viewers.

Beautiful submitted by asopijw65 on August 12, 2014, 11:00pm Beautiful movie about a mother and her children. Characters are engaging. Very relatable. A story about growing up and being caught between two worlds. THe animation is gorgeous, and some scenes will take your breath away. Highly recommend this movie.

Two Thumbs Up submitted by Avliss on August 18, 2015, 1:25pm While I primarily love this film for its stunning soundtrack and its gorgeous animation, the story itself is beautiful and touching. I watched it with my mother (a single parent for four kids), and there were many times when she would turn to me and say, "That's exactly what it's like raising all of you!"

Touching submitted by lec.dank on June 17, 2016, 3:14pm This is the best movie I have ever watched in awhile. Soundtrack is amazing, animation is amazing. 10/10. Make sure to have tissues nearby.

Sad, but Good submitted by majean on August 5, 2018, 2:36pm I was not expecting to be brought to tears so early in this movie. Really enjoyable, though!

Worth watching submitted by alexmichaelp on August 23, 2019, 9:41am This narrative is captivating and moving. It's also really sad, at parts, so make sure you are mentally prepared.
