Disappointing submitted by emjane on June 29, 2014, 5:22pm I grew up with Alice McKinley-- reading the first book of the series when I was in third grade, and continuing on as new books were published, even as I grew older than the title character.
This book, though, read like a 517 page epilogue. Instead of any propelling storyline, it just hit on the highlights of all of Alice's later life. Though I was curious about where she ended up, I didn't need quite the detail the book gave.
Additionally, it just all felt a little dated and old fashioned-- clear that it was written by a woman who grew up and was married in another era.
All in all disappointing.

Okay submitted by zmclaugh on July 21, 2018, 9:01pm After you get used to the drawn-out pace of the other Alice books, this book is a whirlwind. Some fairly unrealistic things also happen. That said, I still re-read it.
