Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi.
When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee, who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
DVD; widescreen; Dolby digital 5.1 surround; dual-layer.

boring submitted by karinnet on January 8, 2014, 10:56am this movie was boring and it was just fighting and fighting. There was NO plot at all.
Monsters & Mechs submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on August 6, 2014, 4:55pm Essentially, Pacific Rim is a really good B-movie. Giant monsters and giant robots and Idris Elba - this combination grabbed me. It is quite fun. Story details don't get communicated as well as they should, making it feel more of "turn off your brain" movie than it could have been.
I liked it okay

I loved the creature designs and special effects, and the way the film portrayed society's reactions to kaiju attacks was very convincing.
That being said, I thought that it fit the "boy meets girl" cliche, the "American Military always wins cliche", and the "lovey-dovey music in the credits, even though this was supposed to be a gritty movie" cliche.
Overall, I'd say this movie was good for a Summer Blockbuster, but I know for a fact Guillermo del Toro made better movies.
Biracial diversity submitted by willow on August 16, 2015, 2:00pm Clifton Collins, an American actor of German and Mexican descent, plays the Chinese and Peruvian American character Tendo Choi, who is the Jaeger technician.
One of my favorite movies submitted by asopijw65 on June 30, 2016, 11:02am Great movie esp if you like mechs and monsters. Great homage to shows like Evangelion.
Fun action film submitted by ishhewitt on July 10, 2016, 2:13pm This was a fun action film. Satisfying to see such huge mechs fight.
One of Lat's Favorites submitted by tbbrown76 on July 14, 2016, 1:17pm Some scary monsters but characters seemed a bit flat. Lots of action.
Neat! submitted by Duette on August 31, 2016, 9:22pm Love my Sci-Fi's! Idris Elba being in it just makes it whip cream and cherries on top :-)
Pretty good submitted by avrogers1 on June 19, 2019, 2:10pm This wasn't bad for a syfy flick. I really liked the storyline and the cast for most part. The CGI was oretty cool too. We have seen it a few times now and it a fun to catch things we missed
Amazing submitted by rocker on July 13, 2019, 7:44am The plot, the animation, and the overall quality is stunningly amazing.
Muddled submitted by markwells on August 8, 2019, 9:55am Seems like too much action here which weighs down a movie and makes it devoid of plot. I like Del Toro's Pans Labyrinth and The Shape of Water. This one, not so much. Grade: C-.
