After World War II, a Lithuanian refugee marries a simple Italian fisherman she meets in a prisoner of war camp and accompanies him back to his isolated village on an island off the coast of Sicily. Miserable submitted by KidBlue on November 21, 2023, 3:10pm A miserable film with characters without redeeming value. A film that celebrates patriarchy and wifely servitude with the sanction of the church. A bungled, unsatisfying ending. I have seen many Italian neorealism films. None left me feeling worse than this one did.
