COMMUNITY REVIEWS

good topic, meh writing submitted by 21621031390949 on June 19, 2017, 8:31pm I love dogs, have worked with therapy dogs and I'm a social worker, so this book looked great to me. What could be better than a story of training a service dog within a prison rehabilitation program? Well, a story with a little more insight and better writing would be better.

I found myself disliking the author after a while because of her self-deprecating and superficial musings about her family. Her husband and children weren't central to the story and they weren't developed as characters, so it felt like intrusions when they were brought into the story.

Still, I read the book to the end, and enjoyed it mostly. I learned something about dog training, and so I would recommend it - not as great literature, but as an interesting story.
