Simple but Effective Electronic Music submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2020, 5:37pm This album is full of relatively straightforward electronic tracks that often keep it simple, stripping the music down to a single melodic line over a drumbeat. The simplicity is more soothing than boring and the tracks develop and build nicely. I found this surprisingly captivating.

Popular IDM submitted by jibkidder on July 10, 2022, 8:05am An album I was obsessed with as a teenager, heavily indebted to Aphex Twin, which, very much like him, is less technically impressive than emotionally resonant. In my opinion, this music hasn't maintained its ability to baffle, and its samples are often cheezy. There are some moments that whip up very interesting feelings of nostalgia and poignancy, even if you are listening to it for the first time, which is, I think, the reason it is so celebrated. But I think, listening years later, that much of the early Warp music that influenced it is better. I would say the "In A Beautiful Place Out in the Country" EP is the band's peak.
