Queen Elizabeth submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 24, 2022, 10:47am Philippa Gregory's series of novels about the War of the Roses (called the Cousin's War at the time), culminates with "The White Princess." The story is about Princess Elizabeth, who eventually married English King Henry VII and thereby becomes queen. Their marriage united the York and Lancaster factions of the war, thus bringing it to an end. Henry was the first of the Tudor dynasty that eventually died out with his granddaughter, Queen Elizabeth I (known as Good Queen Bess).
The novel has some very disturbing elements that may not be historically accurate. The novel portrays Elizabeth as willingly having an affair with her uncle, King Richard III. It also shows Henry forcing Elizabeth to get pregnant before he agrees to marry her.
