Read by John Lee.
The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buendía family. Rich and brilliant, it is a chronicle of life, death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the beautiful, ridiculous, and tawdry story of the Buendía family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.

Interesting Read submitted by ericawatkins on June 27, 2015, 2:21pm Gabriel Garcia Marquez does a good job of capturing the reader from the start with the Buen-Dia family's life story. This tale of mythical realism is engaging and a layered tale that pulls on one's heartstrings. A must read

Check this out! submitted by erin1209 on July 19, 2017, 1:09am We read this book in my history class and while it is long, it is such an interesting read. There is GGM's classic magical realism and throughout the decades depicted in this novel, you get to know the Buendia family well. All generations have their problems and their successes, and while the family tree is confusing, it is a worthwhile novel.
