Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl crossed the Pacific Ocean in a balsa wood raft in 1947, together with five men, to prove that South Americans back in pre-Columbian times could have crossed the sea to settle on Polynesian islands. After gathering financing for the trip with loans and donations, they set off on an epic 101-day-long journey across eight thousand kilometers, all while the world was watching.

A promising topic, a pleasant movie (a lot of it I fast forwarded) but is it TRUTHFUL to the facts, really? submitted by Tassos on February 19, 2022, 9:55am This movie portrays an ACTUAL REal life Triumph of THor Heyerdal (at the expense of his marriage).

However, the portrayal of the trip has some details that I need to check in the book and see if they are true, or, as i suspect, FAIRY TALES.

Such as the whale shark, a totally peaceful creature, attacking and hitting their raft, and, even more incredulous,

THor grabbing a bIg shark from the tail and lifting it to the deck of the boat (a shark that allegedly ate their parrot) Is this a bunch of BS, as I suspect, or does anybody think there is a chance in h ell this actually happened?

I wish people were much smarter than they are, so that Hollywood would not treat them as MORONS.
