Cute and well done submitted by wampishing on June 24, 2013, 2:22pm Lulu loves all animals, so its no surprise that she takes a shine to the stray dog driving the community where she and her family take their vacation crazy. Lulu knows the Dog from the Sea can't be just a menace. With help from her parents and her best friend-cum-cousin Mellie, Lulu sets out to befriend the scraggly, scared stray, and protect him from the mean dogcatchers. But the Dog From The Sea isn't the only one who needs help! Each member of this happy biracial family has a goal for their vacation; Mellie, for instance, just wants to build and fly her kite. The figures of the parents are helpful and kind, not even acting as good-natured antagonists, a pleasant approach to family in a tale for young readers. Mckay brings together the different plot strings brilliantly in a surprisingly tense finale that turns the Dog From The Sea into a hero.
