Alternative Roots submitted by Meginator on June 20, 2018, 9:57pm This album offers an interesting glimpse into proto-alternative rock music in the 1960s. Many of the fundamental sounds are familiar, such as predominant harmonies and the use of very specific organ sounds, but the music has a slight edge to it, as if the Standells were testing the era’s boundaries. Something’s clearly brewing in these tracks, making the album a very interesting one for modern ears.
