"Rejoining The Hour a year on in 1957, the team are still striving to broadcast the stories they believe in, grappling with the disturbing threat of the Cold War and a country in the grip of unsettling, rapid change. Bel is still single and determined not to get involved with another married man, but finds herself taking on her adversary Bill Kendall, an ITV producer whose magnetic charm she can't help but find irresistible. Hector has risen to the status of a national celebrity and, drawn into the seductive glamour of Soho nightclub, El Paradis, falls under the spell of the beautiful and seductive KiKi. No longer happy at The Hour under Randall's new regime, he is tempted by offers from ITV, but when a night at the club goes badly wrong, scandal threatens and Hector must try and stop a news story that could destroy his marriage and his career. Investigative reporter Freddie makes an unexpected return to uncover and tackle police corruption within the world of Soho crime and vice."--Container.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A let down submitted by klickitat on June 14, 2013, 9:13am Although the first season of this show disappointed me, I decided to give the second season a try, hoping it'd improve. I'm sorry to say it's even worse than the first. I stopped watching after they went to the over-used "so-and-so comes forward saying [a main character] did something horrible but [main character] can't remember and is (probably) innocent" plot. Ugh. Doesn't help that the character in peril is so despicable I didn't even care if they were innocent.

Only redeeming quality: Talisa lives!

I wanted to learn more about these potentially fascinating characters, trying to innovate in a new medium. But instead they have sex with people they shouldn't (their competition) and/or drink themselves to death. (Yes, it is clearly inspired by Mad Men.)

The sets and costumes and period detail are excellent. If you're looking to escape into a well-manicured version of 1950s London, inhabited by a talented cast, you could do much worse.
